LINKS Webinar: Low-sodium Salts for Longer Lives

08 Sep 2021

Please join us for the next LINKS webinar, “Low-sodium Salts for Longer Lives" presented Dr. Bruce Neal on Wednesday, September 22nd from 7:00am - 8:00am EDT (confirm your local time here).

Globally, more than 8 million people die every year from unhealthy diets. Excessive salt intake alone will cause 1.6 million deaths this year. And while we know that deaths from excess salt intake are preventable, salt reduction efforts, particularly behavior change interventions, remain difficult to implement and expand nationally. Dr. Neal will present the findings from a new study recently published in the New England Journal of Medicine which highlights the potential of low-sodium salt substitutes as way to reduce sodium consumption. This pioneering study, which was conducted in China for over five years and included 21,000 people, shows that low-sodium salt substitutes save lives and prevent heart attacks and strokes.
